1.1 MVA of standby power supplied to a Data Centre in South East England was another addition to Progress Group’s impressive portfolio.
The challenge faced by Progress Group’s solution engineers was to fit what amounted to a 1100 kVA containerised generator into a space previously occupied by a canopied 500kVA – which is less than half its footprint.
In a bid to overcome space restrictions on site, the solution entailed splitting and supporting the load between two generators; a 700 kVA and 400 kVA, each enclosed within a sound attenuated enclosure and in a stacked arrangement.
Located in the warehouse facility, by mounting the smaller generator on top of the larger machine, Progress were able to meet the client’s specifications for a 1.1 MVA supply without the need to compromise the only space designated for a generator within the warehouse.
The lower set was enclosed within a specially strengthened canopy to support the weight of the upper set.
The project was engineered from start to finish by Progress Group’s Solutions Director, Philip Starr.
