500 kVA supplied to 5* luxury hotel

We have supplied, installed and commissioned a 500 kVA FG Wilson generating set to a luxury 5* hotel on the banks of Loch Lomond.

The 500 kVA generator is used in a standby application and in the event of a mains power failure it will power the 18th century mansion, housing up to 110 rooms. 

In a bid to minimalism any disturbances to guests and surrounding rural tranquillity, a sound attenuated canopy was supplied to reduce sound levels to 80.2 dBA at one metre, with a bunded base fuel tank to protect against any environmental issues resulting from fuel leakage.

The final electrical connections of the installation had to be planned well in advance to suit the demands of the hotel and its clients which resulted in a short power outage during the night when everybody else in the hotel were asleep.

The project was engineered from start to finish by Hughie McRobbie, one of Progress Group’s solution engineers based in Scotland.
