Progress Group's team of Site Electricians, undertook one of their largest ever installation projects for a new college development, comprising of 17 buildings from guardhouse to teaching blocks plus a swimming pool, in North East England.
Throughout this three year development, Progress Group’s involvement was in the provision of temporary lighting to site offices, canteens, drying rooms and temporary accommodation blocks: the equivalent of 250 No. 32ft by 8ft cabins. Flood lighting was also installed into a large car park with spaces for over 500 cars.
Each new building required temporary safety lighting for corridors and staircases and 110 volt power for all electrical hand tools until permanent power and lighting were installed.
Overall, a total of 600 No. 5ft fluorescent lights; 60 No. brick lights; 60 No. 10 kVA transformers and 22 No. mains distribution boards were installed internally. External lighting consisted of 60ft crow nest towers, 5 60ft static towers and 45 400W sodium lights.
The mains electricity supply to the construction site was limited, therefore throughout the development most of the site power was provided by a total of 15 No. FG Wilson diesel generators with power outputs from 110 kVA – 550 kVA; all of which were supplied by Progress Group.
