RECORD SALES FOR 400 Series in THE construction industry

Progress Group has supplied and installed 150 FG Wilson 14 kVA self-contained generators powered by the 400 series, Perkins Engine.

The generators are currently running on a continuous application and powering 150 welfare units on construction sites throughout the UK: the welfare units are designed to provide sanitary conveniences, washing facilities and access to drinking water for construction personnel.

One of the main requirements for this project was to devise a solution that reduced noise levels to within health and safety guidelines. The solution involved installing a generator within a sound attenuated enclosure into a stand alone secure container, reducing the overall noise level to 75dba at one metre, well within the noise level specification.

In order to extend running time between fuel refills, an extended capacity bunded fuel tank was built into the container and incorporated into the overall design.

A remote monitoring system was a further specification requirement: given the expertise and knowledge of Progress Group’s control system engineers, the standard control system located on the generator was modified to permit a remote panel in the welfare area itself. This ingenious design allows for the generator to be operated remotely and the installation of a remote alarm means that site personnel are alerted to alarms such as low water or low fuel level.
